The University of Miami is helping out the environment in an unusual way.

The Miami Hurricanes will be the first college football team to wear uniforms made from ocean waste.

It won't be their main uniform, but the team's alternate uniforms, cleats and gloves will be made by Parley for the Oceans, USA Today reported.

The uniforms will be a special edition Adidas x Parley A1 uniform made of 70% ECONYL yarn. The yarn is made from fishing nets and other nylon waste recovered from marine environments.

The cleats, Adizero 7.0 Freak x Parley cleats and gloves will also be made from ocean garbage, USA Today reported.

The shoes are being touted as the first eco-conscious footwear worn in an NCAA football game.

The jersey will still be the traditional orange but will have nods as "an ode to the cause to end plastic pollution of the oceans."

The team will suit up in the alternate uniforms for the 2018 AdvoCare Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The Hurricanes take on Louisiana State University for the classic on Sept. 2.
