Ric Flair remains hospitalized due to 'ongoing health complications,' wife said

ATLANTA — WWE legend Ric Flair remains hospitalized for health complications ahead of a planned procedure, his family said.

TMZ Sports reported Thursday Flair was taken to an emergency room in the Atlanta area for a "very serious" medical emergency, but Flair's son-in-law, Conrad Thompson, says it's not true.

According to Sean Ross Sapp, managing editor of the pro wrestling, MMA and boxing site Fightful, Thompson said Flair's hospitalization "is not as grave or serious" as TMZ reported.

According to Sapp, Thompson said the procedure was planned before Flair's appearance at wrestling convention Starrcast II in Las Vegas.

Flair's wife, Wendy Barlow, said he is having complications that delayed the planned procedure until Monday, People reported. The complications were not specified nor was the procedure.

"Ric's surgery has been postponed until Monday to address some complications that needed to be taken care of first," Barlow said in a statement Friday. Thanks for all the well wishes."

Barlow said in a previous statement released Thursday that "due to ongoing health complications, Ric was taken to the hospital and is expected to undergo a procedure tomorrow morning, after which he expects to fully recover."

Professional wrestler Ric Flair has reportedly been hospitalized.

This is the second publicly reported medical issue the 70-year-old has suffered in recent years. In August 2017, he was placed in a medically induced coma. A month later, he told People that decades of drinking led to his hospitalization.

Family members said they were told the WWE hall of famer had a 20 percent chance of survival, and he underwent surgery in which a pacemaker was inserted and part of his bowel was removed.
