FALL RIVER, Mass. — A Massachusetts state trooper went above and beyond for a woman seeking help on the side of a road.

Massachusetts State Police posted the photo to their Facebook page, explaining that a woman shared the photo with them. They did some digging and discovered the man in the photo was Trooper Luke Bonin.

Bonin said he had just left court when he passed a woman standing on the side of the road, asking for help. Bonin continued on to a restaurant, where he ordered two meals to-go and pulled over next to the woman.

“Thinking he was there to remove her from the side of the road, she immediately stated to him that she would leave, that she knew she shouldn’t be there with her sign,” Massachusetts State Police wrote on Facebook. “But Trooper Bonin told her, ‘I’m not here to kick you out.’ He then extended the two meals and told her to pick one.”

Bonin and the woman sat on the side of the road and shared a meal together.

Bonin said he didn’t do it for the publicity, but people on social media are commending him for his selflessness.
