Gabriel Molina, 29, of Miami, was charged with fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, the television station reported.

Molina has nine traffic convictions since 2013, the Miami Herald reported. One of his convictions was for driving 100 mph in a 55 mph zone, the newspaper reported. He has paid $2,411 in fines over the past six years, the Herald reported.

Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokesman Adam Linhardt said a deputy saw a Ferrari traveling 75 mph in a 45 mph zone early Sunday on the Overseas Highway, WPLG reported.

When Upper Keys Sgt. Robert Dosh turned on his siren lights, Molina allegedly increased his speed to 100 mph, the Herald reported.

Dosh caught Molina at a gasoline station, the newspaper reported. Molina allegedly told Dosh he was speeding, but not fleeing from authorities, but a female passenger in Molina's car said he saw the officer's lights and heard the siren, according to the Herald, which cited a Monroe County Sheriff's Office release.
