Alabama deputies arrest man they say livestreamed high-speed chase

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Deputies in Alabama arrested a man on Tuesday who they said sped away from them and livestreamed the ensuing high-speed chase, which ended with a crash.

Derrick Glen Ray Jr., 24, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of controlled substances unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, attempting to elude and reckless endangerment, AL.com reported.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, at around 3:30 p.m., deputies observed a vehicle parked “in an unusual location," the website reported. When deputies attempted to approach the vehicle, the driver, later identified as Ray, drove away and appeared to live stream the chase on social media.

The chase ended when Ray collided with another vehicle at an intersection, AL.com reported.

Ray was arrested and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail, with bail set at $35,000.
