Drew Brees announces he’s coming back for 2020 season

The New Orleans Saints probably won’t be going into the 2020 season without their star quarterback.

Drew Brees announced Tuesday that he will be back and won’t be retiring this year.

It will be the 20th year in the NFL for the 41-year-old QB, The Advocate in New Orleans reported.

He’s been with the Saints since 2006 when he signed with the team as a free agent, WDSU reported.

Before that, he was with the San Diego Chargers, according to NFL.com.

Brees made the announcement on Instagram.

But keep in mind, there could always be a change, since Brees hasn’t yet signed a contract and will be an unrestricted free agent on March 18, The Advocate reported.

Brees, who is the fourth oldest player in the NFL was the 10th highest-paid quarterback in 2019. He is the top active player, making about $250 million over his NFL career. Tom Brady is No. 2 with $235 million since 2000.

He’s a 13-time Pro-Bowl selection, as well as the NFL’s all-time leader for passing yards, passing touchdowns and completion percentage, ESPN and WDSU reported.
