The Big Lake Community Animal Clinic shared photos of the cat on its Facebook page and said that the animal was found frozen to the ground in Muskegon on Tuesday morning. The clinic named the cat Elliot, after the winter storm that caused temperatures to dip below freezing.

Clinic staff said that when the cat arrived at the facility, his body temperature was just 94 degrees and his eyes were crusted shut. He was warmed with IV fluids and cleaned, WZZM reported.

The cat was checked for a microchip, but so far no owner has been identified.

In an updated post on its Facebook page, Big Lake Community Animal Clinic said that Elliot was improving, and “was reaching out his paw to the vet tech caring for him.”

Anyone wishing to donate to help the clinic pay for Elliot’s care can do so at its website.
