LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville doctor is facing charges after federal agents say she tried to pay to have her ex killed.
Stephanie Russell was arrested and charged on May 19, after allegedly contacting a person whom she believed to be a hitman, WHAS reported. The person she contacted was an undercover FBI agent.
In court documents obtained by WHAS, investigators said that Russell agreed to pay the undercover agent $7,000 in exchange for murdering her ex-husband.
Investigators said on May 18, Russell put half of the agreed-upon amount, $3,500, in a drop box outside the medical office, Kidzlife Pediatrics, where she works as a pediatrician, WLKY reported.
Russell was taken to federal prison and faces up to 10 years behind bars if convicted, WLKY reported.
