In an Instagram post that featured a photograph of a handwritten letter from the 40-year-old singer, Rimes said she had also been battling the flu.

“It completely and utterly breaks my heart to have to announce that I will be rescheduling this weekend’s shows,” Rimes wrote Wednesday. “While sick with the flu, my doctor discovered a bleed on my vocal cord, caused by the violent cough that came along with being sick. I am getting better, but I am unable to talk or sing. ... doctor’s orders!”

Rimes added that she will see fans after she recovers, CNN reported.

“I am devastated to have to do this as there was nothing more that I was looking forward to than celebrating the holidays with you,” Rimes wrote. “Please check your emails for rescheduled information and I will see you very soon.”

Rimes said that her show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee, would be rescheduled for April 8, 2023. The second postponed show, at the Riverside Casino and Golf resort in Riverside, Iowa, was moved to Sept. 29, 2023.

The shows were part of Rimes’ “JOY: The Holiday Tour,” which began on Dec. 2, People reported. Rimes will perform a mix of holiday songs, hits and music from her newly released album, “god’s work,” according to the magazine.

She will resume the tour with a two-night stop beginning Dec. 16 in Lincoln City, Oregon, People reported.
