Man killed, 11-year-old among 4 injured in shooting at NYC barbecue

NEW YORK — A 22-year-old man was killed and four people, including an 11-year-old child, were injured when a gunman opened fire at a park where people were gathered for a barbecue, authorities said.

The incident occurred at about 11:15 p.m. EDT after a fight broke out at Claremont Park in the Bronx, WABC reported. More than 200 people attended the barbecue, according to the television station.

The 22-year-old man was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, WPIX reported.

The 11-year-old boy was shot in the shoulder, according to WCBS. Another 22-year-old man was shot in the leg, and a 24-year-old woman was in critical condition after she was shot twice in the chest, according to the television station.

Police are withholding the name of the man who died until his family can be notified, WPIX reported.

No arrests have been made. The shooting remains under investigation, police said.
