Man rapes Florida woman, threatens to kill pets, deputies say

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. — A Florida woman said a man forced his way into her home, raped her and then threatened to shoot her pets, authorities said.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the woman, who was in her 50s, answered a knock at the front door of her New Smyrna Beach home Monday at about 3:30 p.m., WFTV reported.

When the victim opened the door slightly, she said the man asked her a question before forcing the door open, the television station reported. After pointing a gun at her, the man allegedly threatened to shoot the woman’s pets if she did not do as he said.

The victim said the man raped her and punched her, the sheriff’s office said.

According to the sheriff’s office, detectives are continuing to investigate the case. Officials did not provide further details, WFTV reported.
