NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — A Florida woman was charged with murder and aggravated child abuse after police said she stabbed her 3-year-old daughter to death.
In a police report shared by the North Miami Beach Police Department, officers said they were called to a home for a report that a child had been killed by its mother.
Officers who arrived said Jellisa Baxter admitted to killing her 3-year-old daughter and said “when asked how she killed her daughter, (Baxter) replied she strangled her at first, but when that didn’t work she stabbed her in the chest and neck.”
Police said Baxter called 911 to report the stabbing herself, WTVJ reported.
Officers at the scene reported seeing the victim’s body on the ground with “several deep stab wounds,” according to WSVN.
Police did not name the victim or offer any possible motive for the crime, according to WPLG.
