CONCORD, N.H. — A St. Bernard mix named Zoey is finally home after some sharp-eared gas station employees heard the pup barking Tuesday from what turned out to be an underground pipe, WFXT-TV reported.
According to the TV station, Zoey had fallen into a 6-foot hole and was trapped 25 feet inside the pipe, requiring special equipment to help extract her.
“Welcome home pretty girl! We are so grateful someone heard you barking looking for help,” Granite State Dog Recovery wrote on its Facebook page just before noon.
The saga began 10 days ago when Zoey vanished.
The Concord Fire Department was called just before 9 a.m. EDT Tuesday to assist with her rescue after employees of Aranosian Oil heard Zoey barking, WFXT reported.
“Thank you to the Concord NH Fire Department for all your hard work. Thank you to Aranosian Oil for not disregarding the barks being heard and finding her. Thanks to all who allowed food stations on their property,” Granite State Dog Recovery wrote on Facebook.
The nonprofit helps search for missing dogs, WFXT reported.
