Young child shot, killed in Florida neighborhood, deputies say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A young child has died after gunfire erupted in a Florida neighborhood, authorities said.

According to WFTV, the deadly shooting occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in Pine Hills, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies responded to a report of gunfire along Drexel Avenue and found a young child who had been shot, authorities said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, WFTV reported. Authorities have not yet released the name or age of the child, according to the news outlet.

The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the case.
