Cecil Shorts returns as Jaguars take on Lions in Detroit

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars will get their best feel yet of what kind of team they have in 2014 when they play the Detroit Lions Friday night.

Chad Henne will start at quarterback and then give way to rookie Blake Bortles sometime in the second quarter.

Bortles has played well in his first two preseason games and this will be his biggest test yet as he plays with and against the first team for about a quarter.

Cecil Shorts, III will see his first preseason action in 2014.

The Jags top wide receiver is scheduled to play about 15 snaps as he recovers from a hamstring injury in training camp.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

The Jags will conclude the preseason next Thursday at home against Atlanta.
