Jaguars fans split on decision to keep coach Doug Marrone, general manager Dave Caldwell

Two days after the turbulent 2019 season came to an end with a win over the Indianapolis Colts, the Jacksonville Jaguars announced head coach Doug Marrone and general manager Dave Caldwell are returning in 2020.

Fans shared their immediate reaction.

“I think it’s a good thing, to keep the staff the way it is,” said Jaguars fan Jose Lora.

Some fans say Marrone proved he could be the right man for the job -- the Jaguars won the AFC South in 2017 under his leadership.

“I believe let’s go ahead and maybe give a year or two more years chance to the current staff, and see what happens,” Lora said.

Others said it was time to move on and pointed to the previous two lackluster seasons as evidence.

“I don’t think he’s the right coach for our team,” fan Bob McNulty said. “We had a couple of years to do some good there with the team, I don’t see where he’s done much good for the team.”

Fans say they’ll be watching roster moves closely and can’t wait to see how the NFL draft unfolds.

“I would see what their first-round picks are going to be, then we’ll see who they keep, who they get rid of,” fan Joshua Cox said.
