Jaguars super fan turned passion for team into organization to help others

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — It’s draft day in Duval and die-hard fans have been waiting on this day for nearly 123 days.

We know what fans are like inside of TIAA Bank Field but outside of it, the passion for the Jaguars leaves your jaw dropped. Saying Jon Fichter is a massive Jaguars fan would simply be an understatement; for nearly 5 years, he’s been collecting Jags memorabilia.

From signed pictures...

“We go over here to the smoke wall, which I think is pretty cool when they come out in the beginning of the game,” Fichter showed Action News Jax. “We have everyone from Julius Thomas, Jeremy Mincey to Mike Tyson right there.”

Uniforms...

“This is a game used Josh Scobee helmet back in the two-tone era and a game used Malik Jackson jersey,” he said.

Even life-sized mannequins...

“This is my first mannequin ever, I did my first private signing with Dede Westbrook,” he said. “Here we got the big John Henderson, everyone remembers him and got to give him a slap sometimes.”

A love for the game turned into a love for his own business, JFL Live, which helps people network and meet former players.

“We try to give people the opportunity to get to know these guys instead of a name and a number,” Fichter said.

He says hosting events where fans and people can meet their idols makes it all worth it.

“Seeing people’s expressions, when you bring someone here and they, ‘go oh my gosh’ or bringing a player here and they’re like, ‘Oh, I remember that’ or ‘wait you got a mannequin of me?’”

The craziest part about it all? He says there’s much more to his collection.

“You think this is a lot, but unfortunately this is only ¼ of my collection,” Fichter said. “I have a 20x20 storage unit full of stuff.”

He says with the obvious selection of No. 1 overall pick, Trevor Lawrence, he knows it will be tough but he’s trying to get his hands on his first game-worn jersey.
