JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After another hot day with near record highs in the mid to upper 90s, the worst of the heat will slowly subside in the coming days.

On-shore flow takes hold on Tuesday, dropping afternoon temperatures by 5-10 degrees. By Wednesday through Friday, high temperatures will be mostly in the 80s.
As for much needed rainfall, only isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms can be expected by Wednesday and Thursday with an increase in rainfall Fri. into the weekend.

TROPICS: Tropical Storm Gabrielle is in the middle of the Atlantic, moving into the North Atlantic with no threat to any land areas.
A tropical wave north of the Leeward Islands/Puerto Rico is tracking toward the Bahamas – conditions in the short term are not conducive for development but may become more favorable toward the weekend near Florida and especially the Gulf. Another tropical wave in the Central Atlantic is tracking toward the Caribbean with at least some long range potential for development.
While generally quiet for the time being, the peak of the hurricane season is Tuesday, September 10.
