Wolfson Children's Hospital announces $2 million gift from THE PLAYERS Championship

Action News Jax Family Focus partner Wolfson Children’s Hospital received $2 million gift from THE PLAYERS Championship. The donation will fund children’s health and wellness programming at the hospital.

THE PLAYERS Center for Child Health at Wolfson Children’s Hospital was created to improve the health, wellness and quality of life for families living within the local community. Primary areas of focus include: prevention, health and wellness, access and community education.

PGA Tour player Jim Furyk presented the check to Baptist Health President and CEO Hugh Green and Wolfson Children’s Hospital President Michael Aubin.

“The relationship between Jim and Tabitha Furyk, Baptist Health, Wolfson Children’s Hospital, THE PLAYERS Championship and the PGA Tour goes back many years and continues to be strengthened through our collaboration that launched THE PLAYERS Center for Child Health,” said Greene. “The success of the Center has exceeded our initial expectations by providing the highest level of health and wellness programs and services to the children and families in our region. We celebrate this momentous gift, which will have even further impact because of the $3 million in matching funds Baptist Health will provide to continue an endowment for the Center for countless generations.”

Local kids like Raia Adams, who has asthma, and Jacob Lopez, who suffered a traumatic brain injury and is a now a champion for child passenger seat safety, will benefit from the latest multimillion gift from THE PLAYERS Championship.
