Jacksonville students had a chance to connect with local leaders through a series of life-building workshops Friday.
The event was hosted by the Jacksonville Urban League and funded by mini-grants through Kids Hope Alliance.
In January, Action News Jax told you how the Kids Hope Alliance received more than $464,000 in grants in a program through the city of Jacksonville. It was not until Friday, however, that the community could see how this money was being spent with local organizations.

On Friday, students at various grade levels participated in workshops to build life skills, plan their futures and discuss crime in local neighborhoods.
“When they keep talking, it gets me more inspired so eventually I want to make a change,” student Joshu’wa Wright said.
It's a two-day workshop at the Jacksonville Urban League. On Saturday, the special guest is a local poet.
“She says she cares about us,” student Paul Gordon Jr. said. “Not too many people say that they care about us and now that I’m seeing that, I think Jacksonville is really going to make a change.”
