Police are not sure when the crash happened, as the victim was apparently lying there for a while before being discovered.

Officers and Fire and Rescue crews found the 16-year-old boy. Officers said believe that he was struck by a vehicle and left there.

Authorities have not identified the victim, but the family told Action News Jax that he is Dalton Kuhn.

Evidence found at the scene is believed to be from a 2003 to 2007 Silverado or Sierra, authorities said.

The St. Augustine Police Department released a photo of truck similar to the one that officers are looking for in connection with the incident.

The truck is described as a 2003 to 2007 Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra that is missing a black passenger side mirror. It could also have additional damage on the right-hand side, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Augustine Police Department at 904-825-1070 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at 1-888-277-8477.
