Biological mother upset after learning through social media her son died in Jacksonville

The biological mother of 8-year-old Christian Dozier said she found out about her son’s death through social media.

The boy's foster mother said a TV fell on top of boy early Friday morning–killing him.

A memorial has been set up outside the house where Christian died.

His biological mother, Ashley Hoover, said he shouldn’t have been living in the home.

“I feel like it’s my fault, you know, because he wasn’t with me,” said Hoover over the phone with Action News Jax.

Hoover said Christian and her two daughters were placed in foster care seven years ago when she was struggling with drugs.

The mother said she found out her son was dead through Facebook Friday morning.

“I can’t get no answers and no one is helping me with anything,” Hoover said.

Christian’s foster mother, Amy Peterson, said a TV toppled off a shelf,  striking he boy and killing him.

Hoover said she does not buy that explanation. “I don’t believe it was an accident. I believe my children were being abused,” she said.

Three children were removed from the foster home Friday.

The Florida Department of Children and Families and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office are investigating the case.

Hoover said she was never notified and is struggling to get information.

“I have no idea where my daughters are and no one will give me any answers or tell me anything,” Hoover said.

Action News Jax's Beth Rousseau called DCF officials, who said they were unable to provide updates due to confidentiality laws.

“I want (authorities) to do an investigation and I want to know the truth about what happened to my son,” Hoover said.

Hoover said she’s traveling to Jacksonville to get answers.
