Boyfriend arrested for murder of Brittany Foote

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — A man was charged Tuesday morning with the murder of Brittany Foote.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said 29-year-old Courtney Davis was charged with murdering his 22-year-old girlfriend. Foote was last seen alive on March 18.

Officers responded to the murder investigation on the morning of March 26. Before the call, the suspect's father called 911 after he received a visit from Davis, who he said confessed to the crime.

The father told police that Davis confessed to the murder and that he was concerned that his son was suicidal. Police said Davis agreed to be interviewed, and after the interview he confessed to the murder. He was initially arrested for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a charge in Maryland.

The couple was together for about three years, and had lived in Jacksonville for about 8 months.

Investigators learned that Davis bought items to get rid of Foote's body, authorities said. JSO said her body was put in a dumpster off Dunn Avenue. Detectives searched the Trail Ridge landfill for her remains for about several days, but the body hasn't been recovered.

JSO said it is not known where she was murdered. But, police said they believe that the motive was jealousy.
