Inmate dies at Clay County jail, FDLE investigating

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. — A Clay County jail inmate died on Wednesday, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

The inmate, who has been identified as Michael Theron Moore, 41, was found unresponsive inside a dorm around 3:24 p.m. Deputies, nurses and Clay County Fire Rescue responded and provided medical treatment, but the inmate was pronounced deceased.

CCSO believe the death is not related to a use of force incident.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has taken over the investigation.
