Community collecting gifts for fallen Nassau County deputy's daughter

Fallen Nassau County Deputy Eric Oliver leaves behind a 6-year-old daughter.

Oliver was hit and killed by a vehicle on State Road 200 Tuesday morning while assisting Border Patrol agents pursue a suspect.

Now complete strangers are coming together to make sure there is some light for the deputy’s little girl during this dark time.

A local woman is organizing a gift drive for the child through Facebook with the holidays right around the corner.

Evelyn Horky said she never met Oliver, but she jumped in right away to help his family.

“It’s so sad to lose someone just before the holidays, a 6-year-old girl is without her daddy,” Horky said.

Horky says you can drop off your gifts directly at the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office at 76001 Bobby Moore Circle in Yulee, Florida.
