Community shows support to Jacksonville officers shot

The community is raising thousands of dollars to help with the medical bills incurred by two Jacksonville Sheriff officers who were wounded in a shootout Friday night.

GoFundMe accounts for recovering JSO officers Michael Fox and Kevin Jarrell continue to grow as thousands of dollars have been raised for each officer in less than 24 hours.

At the last check, the GoFundMe for officer Kevin Jarrell has raised over $5,200 of a $25,000 goal.

Jarrell was shot in the stomach under his vest and that donated money is going toward medical bills.

Meanwhile more than $3,400 of the $25,000 goal for JSO Officer Michael Fox has been raised to go toward medical bills after Fox was shot in the hands by the same suspect.

Fox's GoFundMe page says that expenses will also help to board his dog, Bailey, while he recovers in the hospital.

JSO says the officers saved the lives of several people, including a 19-month-old, inside a house where suspect Derrick Brabham shot at officers with a high-powered rifle as they responded to a suicidal threat call.

Brabham died after exchanging gunfire with police.
