Controversial Brunswick pastor asks for $10,000 in attorney's fees via Facebook post

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — A controversial Brunswick pastor who is accused of multiple sex crimes involving children is asking the community for $10,000.

Ken Adkins, who is in jail, is pleading with his congregation to donate money to pay off his attorney's fees from jail.

The plea was posted Tuesday night on Facebook.

Adkins asked for 50 people to come up with $200 each, saying that they only have nine days to do it.

Adkins’ Facebook post said, in part:“Many of you know my current situation; with that being said, I need your help.”

"While pastoring my wife and I have helped hundreds of people who were in tough situations. Today, I find myself in the tough situation of fighting the untrue allegations of which I am accused of.” He reminded potential donors that his trial begins April 3 and said he needs the money by April 10.

Adkins was arrested for on charges of molesting a 16-year old boy in his church office in Brunswick between 2009 and 2010.

He is also accused of enticing a teenage boy and girl to have sex with one another while he watched and engaging in sexual activity with both of the children himself. Adkins is also charged with trying to intimidate a witness so that one of the victims would stop cooperating with police.
