Some of our community’s youngest and smallest members are giving back to service members in a big way. Sierra Nichols’ kindergartners are practicing their handwriting skills while brightening the lives of those who are out at sea.
They’re making homemade “welcome home” cards for sailors. Students at Crystal Springs Elementary are channeling their patriotic spirit as they draw pictures to our service members.
“A lot of them had no idea what a deployment is or that there’s sailors on a boat that haven’t seen their family for nine months,” said Nichols.
Nichols wanted her students to be educated about the different military branches and be able to make a difference.
