Dozens of Starbucks stores potentially coming to Publix locations

Publix Super Markets Inc. has plans to open dozens of in-store Starbucks now that two stores are already in place in Florida.

The two in-store locations are in Winter Haven and in the Tampa Bay area, according to Action News Jax business partner Jacksonville Business Journal.

Publix spokesman Brian West told the journal Tuesday there are several locations in the works.

He said the number of those stores will increase if the project moves beyond the pilot phase. West told the journal that available real estate will determine whether a store will be built in a Publix.

Plans for San Marco Publix, housing development move forward

"It's tough to find existing stores where we’ve got enough space inside the footprint to do the Starbucks," he told the journal. "So we’ve got everybody kind of scrambling and looking at floor plans and going, 'Yes, OK, we can pop one in here.'"

Several Target stores have added Starbucks cafes in their stores, including several locations in Jacksonville.

"For us, it’s just another service offering for our customers," West said. "It’s a great way to enhance that shopping experience."
