Driver hits home, kills woman watching TV, Jacksonville police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Police are looking for the man who they say drove a stolen SUV through a home and killed a woman inside watching TV.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said Sarah Joshua, 66, died at the scene on West 31st and Pearce streets.

The victim’s 43-year-old nephew was also in the home at the time and was not hurt.

Police said the driver lost control, drove completely through the home and stopped in the backyard.

The Lincoln SUV was reported stolen on Saturday.

Cousin of victim said she was a nice person who cared for the elderly in her neighborhood. 

"It's just terrible because she ain't never did nothing," said the victim's cousin James Newkirk. "She was a good, loving person."

The driver ran away from the crash, police said.

Officials haven't released suspect information. However, witnesses said it was a man who is about 5 feet 8 inches tall who wore a hoodie and jeans. The witness said he ran down Pearce Street.

Authorities believe the vehicle was involved in another hit-and-run crash on West 36 Street.
