JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Local families say their children are getting sick from the poor living conditions at Eureka Gardens.
Action News Jax's Brittany Jones saw one woman pass out Friday from the smell of gas.
Jones observed that the woman was literally lying on her door step nearly lifeless. Neighbors at the complex said that's proof their living conditions make them sick
Only our cameras were there as paramedics rushed in to help the woman. Friends said the woman has been in the hospital three times this month due to passing out from smelling gas, a problem they say management hasn't fixed.
"No compassion, no caring," said Tracy Grant.

The families said they could use the extra care. They say mold, mildew and gas have caused their health to take a dive.
"We have small children, my baby just been diagnosed with asthma allergy, this is crazy," said tenant Dwan Wilson.
"My baby just had surgery, she had her tonsils and adenoids taken out because she has asthma," Grant said.
We searched the most recent Duval County comprehensive health report from 2012 and found the area where Eureka Gardens is located, health zone 4, is one of the worst areas for asthma and chronic respiratory diseases in the city and it's second to the worst with children with asthma and their visits to the ER.
Tenants are demanding owners do something.
"Children and sick people live out here, they depend on you to make sure where they live is safe," Grant said.
Tenants say U.S. Housing and Urban Development Department employees were at the complex while all this was happening, but we have not gotten comment from anyone.
