Evacuation order lifted for residents in Charlton County

An evacuation order for St. George residents was lifted on Saturday, Charlton County said.

The county sent out an alert at 5:26 p.m. that the evacuation order was lifted for residents in St. George, Georgia Bend, Moniac and Canaday Loop. The county said residents may return to their homes.

The mandatory evacuation order was issued for part of Southeast Georgia. Charlton County, Georgia, officials ordered residents of St. George to evacuate May 6 due to the wildfire  that was approaching the community.
