JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Families of a young mother and father hit the streets on Saturday to find out who murdered the young couple in front of their little girl.
Family members of 26-year-old George Williams Ashley and 21-year-old Brittany Shantel White joined community advocacy group M.A.D.D.A.D.S. off Commonwealth Avenue Saturday afternoon.
They pleaded for people to come forward with information about who shot the young parents while they sat in their car with their child in the backseat in January.
Brandi White said the pain of losing her sister is indescribable.
White said through the strength of neighbors, she’s holding onto hope that the person responsible will come forward.
“To see that there is more people that care. That you (suspect) took away a really good person for no reason and that this can’t just keep happening. It makes me happy when people show support because it shows that people care about my sister. And it warms my heart,” said White.
Tears streamed down the faces of family and friends of victims as they prayed and held hands.
“It hurts because that was my baby sister. You don’t want something like that to happen to your little sister. If anything, I’m older so I say why not me, why her?” said White.
The family of the murder victims pleaded for information about their deaths.
Ashley’s brother William knocked on doors in the Westbrook Circle neighborhood and prayed for tips.
“Any piece of information or any little thing will help because you don’t know what piece of information you can give that can help out a lot,” said William Ashley.
The families said the victim’s 10-month-old daughter is still waiting for her parents to come home.
“She misses her parents. She stills waits for them to come and when she sees the picture she gets happy,” said White.
Families are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-8477.
