Father pleads over the phone for alleged St. Marys shooter to turn himself in

ST. MARYS, Ga. — St. Marys police are still searching for the person of interest in a shooting that killed a mother and injured her baby.

The fresh wound on 18-month-old Kamela Gordon’s forehead is a sign of the violence that erupted inside the Cumberland Oaks Apartment Complex on Monday night.

An "R.I.P" sign hanging on the door is another tough reminder for the family of 24-year old Jimesha Gordon.

Still hurt and upset, Pamela Cumming, the mother of Gordon, spoke to Action News Jax before walking away in tears, just hours after hearing from police that her daughter was shot and killed. Police say Gordon's 31-year old boyfriend, Roney Wilson, is the shooter.

”She never bothered with nobody and what he did, he need to hurry up and turn himself in and get what he deserved for doing this to my daughter, because she didn’t bother nobody,” said Cumming.

Police said Wilson is still on the run.

“I don’t want to lose you, you understand me,” said Ronnie Wilson as he spoke to his son, Roney, by phone.

The accused shooter’s father, spoke with his son for about 30 minutes Tuesday afternoon. He said he didn’t know where his son was hiding, but wanted to reach out to him one more time. Only Action News Jax heard that conversation.

Father:  “Listen to your daddy, OK. Listen to me because I love you. Listen to me. I don’t want to lose you now.  You hear me? I don’t want to lose you too, OK? You can’t bring her back. If it was an accident, then you tell them and let God handle it. But you have to give God a chance to handle it.”

Father:  “All they want to do is hear your side. So what, you might do a little time, all right. But you’re alive, man.”

Meanwhile, both families are begging for Wilson to turn himself in. Ronnie Wilson said the shooting was an accident. Police believe Wilson is armed and dangerous.
