There's been an outpouring of support for Darryl Mack.

"No one has anything bad to say about Daryl," said Andrew Mines, a friend of Mack.

Mines said the loss is still fresh in his mind

"It’s a feeling of sadness because he had so much promise and hope a real future," Mines said.

JSO said it responded to a call of someone shot early Sunday morning in the 9400 block of Lem Turner Road.

When officers arrived, they found Mack dead inside the car.

Family members told Action News Jax he was going to a party Saturday night and other people were in the car and Mack was not the intended target.

The Sheriff's Office homicide unit is investigating. Meanwhile, Mack’s family and friends have a message for the shooter.

"We went a lot of places played football with a lot of people, friends, family, teachers, everybody, showing support. We just want justice for Darryl," Mines said.

Mack's football coach tells Action News Jax that Mack was supposed to go to Alabama Prep in the fall before hoping to transfer to a bigger school to play college football.
