Fire at JEA substation causing significant power outages

7:30 p.m. UPDATE: 

Power is filly restored to the area according to JEA's outage map.

The Orange Park Fire Department reported that about 40,000 gallons of water was used to extinguish the fire as well as to cool down the transformer.

ORIGINAL STORY: 

The Town of Orange Park has confirmed that the smoke and power outages being experience is a result of a fire at a JEA substation on Shaw St.

The outage is impacting more that 4,000 customers with JEA.

Orange Park Fire Department and Clay County Fire and Rescue were able to control the fire.

According to the Town of Orange Park, the fire is out and JEA is working to restore power.
