Florida prisons are on lockdown until further notice Thursday following reports of security threats.
The Florida Department of Corrections announced that it cancelled weekend visitation at all institutions for Saturday and Sunday because of a possible security threat.

The department said the cancellation includes all major institutions, work camps and annex facilities.
The department said it received intelligence that indicated small groups of inmates at several institutions may try to disrupt FDC operations.

FDC said it will try to resume normal visitation as soon as possible.

This cancellation does not apply to work release centers, the department said.

The Florida Department of Corrections foremost responsibility is to ensure the safety of Florida communities, staff and inmates. In response to credible intelligence indicating that small groups of inmates at several institutions may attempt to disrupt FDC operations and impact safety and security, FDC has taken steps to enhance the security of its institutions across the state this weekend.
