'Free' Nassau County lighthouse may have a new owner

A Nassau County lighthouse-inspired is being given away for free, and the owners think they’ve found someone to take it.

The catch? It has to be moved.

The house could become the headquarters for a ministry called Love, Inc.

Action News Jax told you in Dec. 2016 that the current owners want to build a new home on their land, but wanted to find a new home for the lighthouse. (see photos of the lighthouse)

Now, the home could become a beacon of light for a local non-profit.

A couple from Wisconsin want to make the lighthouse the headquarters for their ministry.

“I wanted the ministry to own it and make it [into a] home where we would have a missionary come in to run [recovery meetings] out of the house,” said Sand Charlton, President of Love, Inc.

It will cost around $40,000 to move the house, but it’s a race against time.

The owners have already applied for a demolition permit and a building permit for their new home, so they hope the ministry can raise the money to move the lighthouse in time.
