GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies said a frightened 9-year-old girl called 911 on Sunday to report her father driving drunk. The girl's sister was also in the car.

According to the 911 call, the girl said her father, 36-year-old Wesley Burgner, admitted he had been drinking.

The scared girl told the dispatcher that she lived in Atlanta and that she was visiting her grandparents.

The young girl told the dispatcher that her father was driving really fast and was afraid they would wreck and die. The girl is heard on the 911 call pleading for her father to stop the car.

"He's driving really fast. Officer, please help me,” said the little girl.

The dispatcher is heard numerous times trying to calm the girl, as she was crying and scared.

“I'm really scared, officer," said the 9-year-old.

The dispatcher said, “I understand, I understand. I’m trying to get some people to you.”

The girl told dispatcher that she didn't know where they were, but were heading to her grandparents' home in St. Simons. The dispatcher tried to get a location for the little girl, but it was difficult because the girl was so upset.

The dispatcher was able to calm the girl and have her describe the car and what businesses she saw along the way.

Several times, the 9-year-old could be heard on the call begging for her dad to stop. “Pull over daddy, pull over.”

The dispatcher stayed on the phone with the girl until deputies found the car at her grandparents' home on Hart Drive in St. Simons Island.

When deputies found them, Burgner smelled of alcohol, had trouble standing and stumbled when he walked. Burgner was charged with DUI and endangering a child. Burgner’s bond was set at $6,070, and his court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
