Police: 2 gunmen sought after opening fire in three Jacksonville apartment units

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A manhunt is underway for two people who shot up three Arlington apartment units Tuesday night.

The incident happened at the Arlington Village Apartments on Bert Road.

A police report said two men shot up Building B at the complex with several rounds.

A grandmother, who was inside one of the units, was hit by a stray bullet. Two hours later, police said she showed up at Memorial Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.

Neighbors told Action News Jax that two men, who wearing bulletproof vests, walked to Building B at the complex and shot about 20 rounds using two high powered rifles.

“They all look like they’re desperate. They all look like they’re killers,” said a neighbor who didn't want to be identified.

Neighbors Action News Jax spoke with are fearful to speak on camera, but a grandfather said his family lives in terror every day.

“I’m scared. Everyone is scared to speak up. Those people are crazy, man,” said a neighbor.

Action News Jax spoke to dozens of people at Arlington Village Apartments. They told Action News Jax gang activity and drug abuse has skyrocketed, so has the violence.

There is no suspect information.
