JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Museum of Science and History in downtown Jacksonville has revealed items that were found in vaults in one of Jacksonville’s historic buildings.
The items include deeds, wills, letters, jewelry and money. The items date back to the early 1900s.
The museum said it will take about five years to go through the boxes of documents and items. The building in which they were found was purchased for $165,000 in 2014.
The owner found the vaults and the items, which have remained untouched for over 80 years. The building has been vacant since the 1980s.
The building is in the process of becoming currently renovated into the Cowford Chophouse, a steakhouse. The new owner said he never expected to find the items when he purchased the building.
The Cowford Chophouse is scheduled to open later this year.
