Jacksonville detective arrested for stealing $100 bill during drug bust

A Jacksonville officer was arrested after he stole a $100 bill that was seized as officers searched a narcotics warrant, officials said.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Detective Jason Man, an 11-year veteran with the agency, has resigned after he was discovered with the stolen money.

JSO Undersheriff Pat Ivey said Man is charged with tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and petit theft.

Ivey said Man was serving a search warrant with several officers on Dignan Street at approximately 5 p.m. Thursday.

During the search warrant, officers found narcotics and money.

After photographing the money, officers noticed a $100 bill was missing.

Two detectives had $100 bills in their pockets.

Officers matched the serial number from the photograph to the $100 bill in Man's pocket.

Man resigned after he was accused of the crime.
