Jacksonville florist to donate floral arrangements for Orlando shooting victims' funerals

Kuhn Flowers in Jacksonville is hoping to lift some of the financial burden by donating all the floral arrangements for the funerals of the victims in the Orlando terror attack.

“Whatever they want us to make, we aren’t going to put any limitations on it. If we can get the flowers, we will make them whatever they want,” said Michelle Morgan, vice president of Kuhn Flowers.

Morgan said she feels helpless as 49 families are now planning funerals after a senseless attack, and this is a way to reach out.

“It’s something that you constantly think about and I think anybody in an industry that can help are now looking to band together to help these poor people,” Morgan said.

Morgan said the nephew of the shop’s grower was shot and killed in Sunday’s shooting.

“You never expect to lose a person so young in your life,” Morgan said.

Morgan said flowers arrangements for a funeral can cost up to $1,000.

“It’s a very expensive burden, but it’s the last thing you can do for a family,” Morgan said.

Kuhn Flowers and its sister store, Katherine’s Florist in Clermont, plan to cover the cost of labor, supplies and even delivery to anywhere the victims’ families are saying goodbye to their loved ones.

“We have people on standby ready and we'll deliver directly from our Jacksonville location and from our Orlando location,” Morgan said.
