Jacksonville man dies in single-car crash after having medical emergency

A man died in a single-car crash on U.S. 1 near Old St. Augustine Road on Friday afternoon.

Delmar Reese, 44, of Jacksonville, was driving a 2015 Chrysler 200 on U.S. 1 southbound, approaching Old St. Augustine Road, according to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol.

Reese had a medical emergency and lost consciousness, FHP said.

He then traveled off the road to the right, struck and went over train tracks and struck a metal control box.

FHP said Reese was taken to Baptist South Medical Center, where he later died.
