LATEST: Robber punches homeowner, leads police on high-speed chase, JSO says
A man was hit in the face Thursday night as he caught a man trying to break into his car in his driveway, police said.
The robbery happened in the 12000 block of Avalon Cove Drive South, near Beach and Kernan boulevards.
According to a police report, the suspect punched the victim in the face then got in his car and took off. About an hour later, police found the suspect's car near Commonwealth and West Palm avenues.
Police were able to take the suspect into custody after pursuing the car for a short time. The victim was taken to Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
