Jacksonville Target employee arrested for stealing $8,660, police say

A Target cashier was arrested after he stole almost $9,000 from his register, according to police.

Andre Colson, 20, was working as a cashier at Target on Crosshill Boulevard in Oakleaf Town Center.

According to a police report, he stole $8,660 in cash from his register during a two-week period.

The cash amounts stolen from the register each day ranged from $400 to $2,000.

Colson was arrested on July 22 after a loss prevention officer saw him take $1,060 from his register and put it in his pocket, according to the police report.

The police report says when an officer with Jacksonville Sheriff's Office asked Colson if he knew why he was there, Colson said, "I've been stealing money from the register."

He told police he stole the money because of financial difficulties and was apologetic, according to the police report.

Colson was arrested and charged with grand theft.
