Melvin Clark, the 86-year-old Neptune Beach veteran who was brutally attacked in April has died his daughter told Action News Jax.

Clarks throat was slashed and his right wrist and finger were also cut in the attack on April 8.

He was airlifted to a trauma hospital and underwent surgery for his injuries.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Clark's wife last heard from him around noon on April 8 and reported him missing after he never returned home from a trip to Academy Sports on Atlantic Boulevard.

Clark’s SUV was recovered April 9 in the Miami area.

Police arrested three suspects during the investigation into the incident.

"The investigation determined the victim was lured to the Westside, where he was kidnapped at gunpoint, robbed of property, including his car, and taken to the woods, where his throat was slashed," said Scott Dingee, JSO's assistant chief of investigations.
