Jeep rams into Westside home

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Officials searching for the driver who drove a Jeep Wrangler through a home’s garage on the Westside.

The incident happened in the 8700 block of Bandera Circle on Jacksonville’s Westside. The victim said it happened Thursday night, and the driver and passenger took off.

"You crash into someone's house and you leave the scene. I'm beyond speechless right now," said Lauren Daniels, the victim.

Daniels said police pointed out to her that there appeared to be two marks where two heads hit the windshield, one on the driver’s side and one on the passenger’s side, both doors were also left open so it looks like these people ran off.

Daniels said she's thankful only she and her dog were home at the time, and they were in the back bedroom.

“Luckily I wasn't on my way to work or getting in my car, because I walk this way around my car to get in the car. It would've taken me right out and I don't think many people would survive that,” Daniels said.

Engineers are checking into the stability of the home to see if it needs to be condemned.

Daniels rents the home and has renters insurance. The owner of the home said they will put her up somewhere if the home is condemned.

No one was injured in the incident.
