Police identify man, woman found dead in Southside mobile home

A man and a woman were found dead in a mobile home in the Portside Mobile Home Park in the 13000 block of Ascot Court, near Beach and Hodges boulevards.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two people were found dead in their mobile home on Thursday and officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said their roommate found them.

Robert Massey, 59, and Amy Hatfield, 32, were found dead in the Portside Mobile Home Park in the Golden Glades neighborhood on the Southside and officers said foul play is suspected.

Several streets and a home on Ascot Court were surrounded by crime tape as JSO were investigating on scene for hours after a man and woman were found dead.

Action News Jax was on scene for more than six hours Thursday evening and watched at least two crime scene units pull up to the trailer home.

For more than three hours, officers waited to obtain a search warrant to enter the trailer since they couldn’t get permission from everyone who lives here.

"Anywhere from four to six people have been seen coming in and out of there and living there," Sgt. Michael Paul with JSO homicide said.

JSO said Friday night that the case is being investigated as a double murder.

A man who didn’t want to be identified said he has lived in the neighborhood for years.

"It’s scary it happening that close to your home and you're trying to live there as quietly as you can,” the man said.

He said he doesn’t feel as safe living here as he once did, "This is not a quiet place now. I may be getting myself in a lot of trouble for this, but you have to speak up."

Officers say they are interviewing the roommate who initially called police.
