JSO: Father shoots son after argument on the Northside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man accused of shooting his 21-year-old son twice in the chest on Jacksonville's Northside is on the run.

It happened outside a house on 11th Street. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the father drove off after shooting his son.

The son's girlfriend took her injured boyfriend to the fire station on Pearl Street four miles away.

He was then taken to the hospital. He is expected to survive.

"Well, I was stunned at first and kind of just shocked," said Eric Jenkins, who lives across the street.

He came home Monday to find squad cars parked in front of his house.

As a father, Jenkins said it's a crime that's hard to imagine.

"I have kids myself and it's just, it's devastating," said Jenkins.

He said the fact that the shooting happened outside is what worries him most.

"There are kids playing up and down the streets all the time -- and just stray bullets, things like that, you've always got to be concerned with, always," said Jenkins.

Action News Jax is waiting for the identity of that father to be released and we asked JSO how many times police were called out to that home last year.
